Movies are big business in Korea. You can see all the usual Hollywood blockbusters. Although, Koreans are far more interested in their home-grown films and so they should be, as there are some great movies to see.

Korean movies are wide ranging from dramas, romantic comedies, animation to horror, there is a genre to suit all. Koreans visit the cinema en masse and is hugely popular with dating couples. On a Sunday, check out the matching 'couple outfits' that boyfriends and girlfriends wear to show their commitment.

Unfortunately only a few central cinemas in Seoul and Busan provide subtitles in English for Korean movies. However, visit a DVD room to discover some great Korean movies.

The Busan and Seoul International Film Festivals are annual events that attract a wide audience from all over the world of cinema and film.
